William "Bill" J. Eaton, 72, passed away on November 29, 2020, in the CCU of OSF St Anthony Hospital, Rockford, IL due to complications from Covid-19. Bill was born on May 18, 1948, in Elkhart, IN, to Ralph and Julia Eaton. He graduated from Concordia College in 1970. He originally wanted to be a Pastor but found the politics of church to be disheartening. He lived for 10 years in Florida with his first wife Linda where they had three children. He later moved to Nevada living in Las Vegas for quite a few years where he met his second wife Jackie before he settled in Northern Nevada where he met his third wife Cheryl. Anyone who knew Bill knew he would quite literally give you the shirt off his own back if you needed it, which is why he found his job with Nevada unemployment assisting in job training and placement for the unemployed so fulfilling. After retiring he moved to Northern Illinois to live with his daughter and her family.
Bill is survived by his sister, Linda Stojak; his children, Melissa (Jeff) Johnston, James Eaton, and Benjamin (Valarie) Eaton; his grandchildren, Samuel Day, Christopher (Anastasia) Johnston, Kaitlyn Johnston, Ashley Johnston, and Noami Eaton; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Delilah. Bill is preceded in death by his mother, father, and first wife, Linda.
Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family hopes to be able to have a small memorial when they scatter his ashes outside Lake Tahoe as he wished.
