Sandra L. Toldo

Sandra Louise (Giorgi) Toldo, 81, of Rockford, Illinois, died unexpectedly on May 17, 2022. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on January 26, 1941, Sandra was the eldest daughter of August Giorgi and Margaret (Armato) Giorgi.  She graduated from Muldoon High School and then married the love of her life, Paul Toldo, on June 6, 1959. They were married for 62 wonderful years and loved celebrating their anniversaries with dinner and dancing at The Butterfly Club. Sandra cherished their many trips and travels with friends and family, including an annual summer week-long stay at Lake Ripley that they went to for many years. She also loved the years she went to Destin, Florida during the winter and the many wonderful friends she met there. Sandra had a special place in her heart for her beloved Potluck group that met for 60 years. They were like a second family to her. She also always looked forward to meeting up with all her neighborhood friends at their many social gatherings. Sandra enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and playing bridge, which she did several days a week. She particularly loved and cherished her beautiful family. Baking special cakes and goodies with the grandkids was an all-time favorite activity. Sandra enjoyed attending her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's activities throughout the years, always ready to cheer them on in whatever they did. Her love for her family and friends was immeasurable.

Sandra is survived by her husband Paul; children Mary Margaret (Frank) Horvat, John (Mary) Toldo, and August (Kathy) Toldo; grandchildren Annemarie (Tom Mark) Toldo, John Paul (Allie) Toldo, Philip (Jessica Sengchanh) Toldo, Jane Horvat, Claudia Toldo, Renate Toldo, and Ander Toldo; great-grandchildren John Thomas, James, and Olivia Toldo; sister Louisa (Michael) Payden; nephews Roger (Teresa) Arbisi, Anthony (Michelle) Arbisi, and Joseph Giorgi; niece Chelsea Giorgi; aunt Ange Armato; longtime friend of the family Carol Voelz; and many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, August and Margaret Giorgi; her father and mother-in-law John and Angeline Toldo; her brother Morris Giorgi; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

The Memorial Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford Illinois on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 11:00 am. The visitation will be from 10:00 am until the Memorial Mass begins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
