Lois Victoria Smith

Lois Victoria Smith, 91, of Loves Park, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023.  She was born on April 5, 1932 in Duluth, MN to Victor and Ruth Sjolin.  She was a graduate of East High School in Rockford, Class of 1949.  She married Lenard Frank Smith in Rockford on May 6, 1950 and worked in the clerical department of Barber-Colman, retiring in 1996.  She was a member of Centennial Methodist Church and Forest City Square Dance Club. Lois enjoyed watching her grandsons play softball, watching baseball (especially her great-grandsons where she was nicknamed "Red Jeep Grandma" (RJG) and the Chicago Cubs), watching basketball (especially the Golden State Warriors), bowling, crafting and shopping.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Lloyd) Wellen, Brian Scott (Roxann) Smith, Wendy (Jamie) Taylor; grandchildren, Jennifer, Graham, Jamie (Jennifer), Candy (Matt), Shelly, April (Justin), Joshua (Theresa), Lloyd (Heidi), Brian (Candace); great-grandchildren, Priscilla, Jacob, Chase (Erin), Zack, Evan, Matthew, Kayden, Nick, Kaylee, Nick, Lauren, Annabelle, Haley, Colton, Garret, Kenzie, Jaxson; several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Sally) Sjolin; and her beloved dog, Lenny.

She is predeceased by her parents; husband; son, Terrance Lenard Smith; sisters, Dorothy Saunders and Audrey Pearson; brother, Gene Sjolin.

A special thank you to Mercy Hospice and everyone that helped her be able to stay in her home until the end like she wanted.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Fibs, 105 West Main Street, Rockton, IL 61072 and all are welcome.
